Grace's

Glasgow city centre, particularly Merchant city seems to be the hub of irish bars in Glasgow so it would be only fitting to kick off proceedings there. With the choice of around 6 irish pubs in a 100 metre vacinity this made the decision of where to try first quite difficult. After much deliberation it was decided that we would try Grace’s.

As opposed to a traditional Irish pub Grace’s is in fact a large sports bar very much geared towards screening the football and GAA. This is evident from the moment you step foot inside as the walls are covered in screens, with celtic memorabilia covering any other remaining space. A few of us had been to Grace’s before however the last time we were there was on St Patrick’s day which was quite the contrast to a normal Monday night on which we went recently. I feel by going on a Monday we were doing them a disservice as it’s no secret that this place caters for a large crowd over the weekends with live music running from Friday till Sunday.

Atmosphere aside, the important question is how was the Guinness. Upon first inspection it was a cracking looking pint, something straight out of an advert. With an almost perfect head to stout ratio and a decent bit of domage to go with it there’s not much more you can ask for from an aesthetic point of view. It has to be said however the taste didn’t quite match; the first couple of tokes went down an absolute treat however it lost it’s kick pretty soon after and also had a lack of shtick. However, at a price point of £3.50 you really can't go far wrong. All in all a fairly solid pint: 7.5/10. Would return.

Setting: 6/10
Price: £3.50
Pint: 7.5/10
