Malones

For the next stop we travel into the city centre to tick Malones off the list. Malones is located just off Sauchiehall street and boasts a large premises that sprawls over 3 floors, including a rooftop beer garden which is arguably the best feature about this place. Just like Kitty’s, Malones is a chain of Irish bars with other locations scattered across Scotland, with perhaps the most prominent one being in Edinburgh.

Our most recent venture to Malone’s in Glasgow was on a Saturday, so as you would expect the place was packed out. They run live music over the course of the weekend and this tends to attract a crowd;  I’m still yet to go here on a weekend and not struggle to get in. This is also similar to the one in Edinburgh which also happens to hit capacity most weekends, however dare I say it, is a better night out than the one in Glasgow. This may be due to the fact that everyone’s favourite Ritchie works behind the bar and always sorts us out with a couple of pints. With that being said we still had great couple of drinks in Glasgow, that was until Elliot decided he couldn’t stomach his pint again, proving once and for all that he doesn’t like it from the teet.

Now for the pint review. Upon first inspection, I think they may have overcooked it slightly on the head pour; this paired with some bubbles on the top didn’t fill me with much hope going into it. There is no denying that it was a full bodied pint of stout and they did seem to get tastier as the night went on, however this could also just be due to the fact that I was pretty well oiled after the 4th pint. With all things considered, Malones is a great venue with a bit of buzz about it and also offers an above par pint of the black stuff.
